Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the US. She is an actress as well as a singer and dancer. Early Broadway parts included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her time working with some of the most acclaimed actors and directors across stage film and television and she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which produced Hamilton. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than 100 years. She was the star of two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Additional Broadway roles for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
